FactFX’s research framework favors an explainable finding over an impressive-looking number.
Define a narrow research scope
This workflow defines the scope required for a documented research assessment. A future research task would identify the platform, account type, product, time period and exact questions before gathering evidence. That scope would appear with the resulting publication.
Collect and distinguish evidence
The proposal separates official records, provider-supplied documents and editorial interpretation. Each observation would carry a source and date. A provider’s assertion would remain labeled as a claim until the relevant verification work had been documented; submitting a record would not make it verified.
Official tools such as the FCA Firm Checker and ASIC’s professional registers are useful starting points for appropriately scoped register-status and permission questions.
Review the conclusion’s boundaries
A proposed review step would check source consistency, currentness, contradictory records and whether the evidence actually supports the wording. An authorization finding would not become an execution claim. A missing document would not become an accusation. A publication would explain what could not be established.
Publish an auditable record
Research publication requires documented usage rights, a review process and a correction history. A research record should show its scope, evidence coverage and limitations, while preserving unresolved questions.
Research sequence: define the question → collect permitted evidence → review the finding → publish the scope and limitations.
Research checklist
- State the platform, account type, product and research question.
- Distinguish official evidence from provider claims.
- Record contradictions and unresolved details.
- Review rights, wording and source freshness.
- Publish limitations with the finding.
